KATHMANDU, Dec 15: Police have recovered 10 idols of different gods and goddesses from a room of a third gender.

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: Police have recovered 10 idols of different gods and goddesses from a room of a third gender.


Metropolitan Police Circle, Kathmandu found the idols hidden from the room of the person who was arrested with an idol of Naag (Snake God) on Wednesday night.


Kumari Tamang was arrested while stealing the idol of Pancha Naag from the Kuleshwor-based Ganesh Temple.

DSP Nawaraj Adhikari told Republica Online that Tamang claimed that idols were stolen for worship, while police recovered the idols that were concealed in the room.


“The arrested person claimed to be a third gender and claims of stealing the idols for worship. We are further investigating the case,” said DSP Adhikari.


Police said they recovered idols of Bhagwati, Manakamana Devi, Bhimshen, Radha Krishna, Bajra Yogini, Kalirat, Dakshinkali, Bhairav and Hanuman among other gods and goddesses.
