Dev Narayan Thakur, 60, was freed by a special police team a day after he was kidnapped while sleeping at his home in Bidyanagar-3, Siraha. Police also arrested a person from the place but left him to Bihar Police as he was wanted by police there. [break]
The chief of District Police Office in Siraha, DSP Sanu Thapaliya, said four Nepali and four Indian persons were involved in the kidnapping and the others were able to escape. However, locals claim that police didn´t put effort to arrest the kidnappers after securing Thakur´s release.
Meanwhile, police claimed they are very close to securing safe release of Sah. "We have arrested 12 persons from different places and identified those involved in kidnapping and their associates. We just have to search the place where the kid has been hidden," claimed inspector Bipin Regmi. DSP Thapaliya claimed some wanted criminals have also been arrested in the course of investigation into Sah´s case.
Regmi conceded police´s failure to solve the case in nine days but reminded that they were dealing with hardened criminals in the case. "These are no ordinary men and are hardened criminals who have been tracking every movement of police and Sah family," Regmi argued.
