Police, outlawed CPN cadres engage in exchange of fire in Sankhuwasabha

KATHMANDU, July 1: A joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force engaged in an exchange of fire with the cadres of the Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) in Sankhuwasabha district on Monday morning.

KATHMANDU, July 1: A joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force engaged in an exchange of fire with the cadres of the Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) in Sankhuwasabha district on Monday morning.


The incident took place at around 9:30 am today when the police team encountered with dozens of armed cadres of the CPN at Silichong rural municipality of the district, according to local authorities.


Chief District Officer Jeewan Prasad Dulal told Republica Online via phone that the police team opened fire on the cadres of the outlawed CPN in self-defense.

He said that the police team has remained out of contact since the firing began. "We are trying to get details regarding the incident," Dulal said. 


The police team was on a joint patrol in the area when it encountered with the CPN cadres.
