Police arrest six on charge of masterminding ransom collection

KATHMANDU, April 20: Metropolitan Police Crime Division on Tuesday arrested six people, including three Indian nationals, on the charge of masterminding ransom collection from various business entrepreneurs by threatening to take their lives.

The arrested have been identified as Arjun Singh Naaruka, 28, and Karani Singh, 24, from Nagaur district of Rajeshtan, India. The two are the main masterminds behind the ransom collection. The others supporting the organized crimes were Hem Singh Jetmal, 25, of Nagaur, India, Santa Bahadur Gurung, 24, of Tapukot VDC of Gorkha district, Prabin Ghale, 27, and Suman Ghale, 25, of Gakhu VDC of Gorkha district. They were arrested from different places of Samkhushi and Chhetrapati in Kathmandu.

Tipped off by a special source, a squad from the Crime Division was keeping a close watch on the accused. During the investigation, police identified that they had plans to begin their venture by collecting ransom from Lalit Jain, 46, operator of Rishav Computer by threatening to take his life.

The arrested have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu, for further interrogation.
