Police arrest 25 yrs old man at TIA with 61 grams of gold

Police have arrested a man at Tribhuvan International Airport for illegally smuggling gold by evading customs.

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Police have arrested a man at Tribhuvan International Airport for illegally smuggling gold by evading customs.


Police arrested 25-year-old Sanjay Tamang, a resident of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-12, Chitwan, on Monday morning.

The police seized one piece of gold metal weighing about 61 grams and one ring that were smuggled without customs clearance.


He had arrived in Kathmandu from Doha on an Air India flight and was found with gold at the international arrival tunnel gate of the airport.


The police have handed him over to the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office in Gauchar for investigation and further action.
