Talking to media persons at Simara Airport in Bara, Pokharel claimed that the prime minister will resign within five minutes if the parties forged consensus.
“Madhav Nepal is not an obstacle,” he said. “He will resign within five minutes if the big parties agree on issues related to peace process, constitution drafting and power sharing.”
Stating that the party´s central committee had sent Nepal to the government as the prime minister, Pokharel said the prime minister will immediately resign from the post if UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML agreed on those issues.
He said the prime minister is ready to resign for the sake of peace, constitution and national unity but not for fulfilling the vested interests of certain party.
Pokharel asked the Maoists to stop what he called childish stubbornness and come to consensus. He said that the recent activities on the part of the Maoists to provide paramilitary training to its cadres and extortion spree in preparation of what they call ´decisive war´ would invite anarchy in the country.
Pokharel also said that the government has not put any condition to the Maoists as reported in the media. He asked the Maoists to stop all protest activities and focus on taking the peace process to a logical end and draft new constitution on time.
