Poachers kill rhino

CHITWAN, April 22: Poachers killed a 20-year-old male rhino near the office of Chitwan National Park (CNP) on Wednesday. The poachers have made away with the rhino´s horn.



CNP officials who combed the park after hearing a gunshot on Wednesday evening, found the dead rhino some three kilometers away from Kasara, according to Ranger Rupak Maharjan. The poachers have not been traced.



Over two dozen rhinos have fallen prey to poachers in the park after the 2008 census put their population at 408.
