KATHMANDU, July 6: The health condition of Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary, Dr. Shashank Koirala is still in critical condition, according to the doctors attending to the leader.
The hospital in a health update stated that Koirala is on ventilator (a device that facilitates breathing in cases of respiratory failure), vasopressor (an agent used to rise blood pressure ) and inotropic (medicines that change the force of heart's contractions) supports.
“Aspiration pneumonia is leading to septic shock and multi organ dysfunction,” reads the health update.
Septic shock is a serious medical condition that occurs when sepsis, which is organ injury or damage in response to infection, leads to dangerously low blood pressure and abnormalities in cellular metabolism.
Leader Koirala's blood pressure was recorded to be 100/50 mmHg, heart rate was 80 beats per minute and oxygen saturation was 95 percent.
