PM pledges support to EPG from political level

KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has lauded the work carried out so far by the Nepal-India Eminent Persons Group or EPG while pledging necessary support to it at the political level. 



During a meeting with the Nepali representatives in the EPG today, the Prime Minister urged the team to continue the good work and pledged necessary support from the political level to give the initiative a conclusion, according to EPG Nepali member Dr Rajan Bhattarai. 



The EPG on Nepal-India relations is meeting for the sixth time in New Delhi on Thursday. And accordingly, the Nepali members of the team have been meeting with senior political leaders to consult on the priorities of the nation and to apprise them of the progress made so far.

Earlier, the team had met CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and CPN (MC) Chair Puspa Kamal Dahal and sought their suggestions in that regard. 


The EPG has three more meetings to go before its two-year term expires. The sixth meeting is expected to lead to the finalization of a report on ways to take Nepal-India relations ahead with a focus on the treaties between the two countries, on multi-lateral trade, transit, social and culture relations among others. 



Dr Bheikh Bahadur Thapa leads the Nepali team in the EPG, which also includes Nilamber Acharya and Surya Nath Upadhyaya along with Dr Bhattarai. RSS
