KATHMANDU, June 29: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli initiated a plantation program at the Koteswar-Kalanki road section in the capital this morning. The event was organised marking the National Afforestation Day.
Prime Minister Oli planted a sapling of pear in Koteswar. Speaking at the program organised by the Ministry of Forest and Environment, the Prime Minister said that the initiative will help make Kathmandu valley clean and green.

Also on the occasion, Forest Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lalbabu Pandit, Minister for Land Management Padma Kumari Aryal and other dignitaries planted saplings on the side of the newly rebuilt road.
The forest ministry is targeting to plant 2,700 saplings of 10 different species in the Koteswor-Kalanki road in the current fiscal year. Likewise, in a nationwide initiative, the Ministry plans to plant 50 millions saplings across the country.
