KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe have held a meeting.
A bilateral meeting was held between them today in Kampala, Uganda on the sideline of the 19th Conference of the Member States of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
SAARC Secretary General calls on Sri Lankan President
In the meeting, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized that since Nepal and Sri Lanka stand together in matters of non-aligned foreign policy, regional cooperation and cooperation of both countries is necessary for mutual benefit.
Emphasizing the need to make the South Asian Regional Cooperation Organization (SAARC) active and dynamic, Prime Minister Dahal said that a common role should be played for that. He emphasized that regional cooperation and issues of common interest should be addressed by making SAARC dynamic.
On the occasion, Sri Lankan President Wickremesinghe stated that he would continue to support SAARC and emphasized the need for cooperation between Nepal and Sri Lanka in regional interests and common economic activities, according to Prime Minister Dahal's Secretariat.
In the meeting, along with Prime Minister Dahal, Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud, Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Dr. Rupak Sapkota, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal and other officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.
