KATHMANDU, Aug 27: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) will commence the parliamentary hearing process for the proposed ambassadors to various countries from August 30.

The meeting of the PHC held on Tuesday at Singha Durbar has approved a work plan to conduct hearings on the complaints against the proposed ambassadors to 17 countries starting from August 30 and concluding within eight days on September 1,2,3,4, 5, 9 and 10 .

Committee Chairperson Ishwori Devi Neupane stated that the work plan has been set to complete the parliamentary hearing process within eight days, considering that Teej falls on September 6, Saturday on September 7, and Panchami on September 8. The committee has concluded that the hearing process may also be shortened due to the few complaints received.

Chairperson Neupane said, "Today, we have opened the complaints from the petitioners regarding the ambassadorial appointments. We will now proceed with the hearing process. The session of the Federal Parliament will run until August 29, so we will start on August 30 and continue without interruption. On the first day, we have scheduled four hearings. We should not delay this process. Once the hearings are completed, we will discuss the matters with the foreign minister before making any decisions. On August 30, we will hear the complaints from the petitioners, and then we will proceed with the hearing continuously on September 1,2,3,4, 5."

"After that, there will be holidays on September 6, 7 and 8 for Teej, Saturday, and Panchami. The process will resume on September 9 and 10. During this break, we will also discuss with the foreign minister. Since there are not many complaints, the process may be completed even faster," said Neupane.

Neupane further stated, "I hereby announce that, according to Section 15 of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee's Procedural Guidelines, 2080, the process for hearings will include bringing petitioners before the committee to validate and clarify the complaints regarding the proposed candidates for Nepali ambassadors to various countries. This will involve inviting the proposed individuals for discussions, among other actions, to complete the hearing process. The proposed schedule, with revisions, has been approved by the Secretariat. The next meeting of the committee will be held on August 30."
