BHOJPUR, March 11: Lack of treatment of people with suicidal tendency leads to tragic incident, according to investigation reports in Bhojpur district. Records maintained by the District Police Office, Bhojpur show that four people committed suicide in three days this week.
Shanta Thapa, 15, of Bhojpur committed suicide on March 6 while returning from school. According to her friends, she had left the school quite early that day. When she didn't reach home till late night her family members started searching her. They found her dead on the way to home. Although she hung herself, a bottle of poison was also found with her body.

She had time and again attempted suicide before. Two days after her death, Sabitra Tamang, 69, also committed suicide.
According to police, Shanta was battling with depression. They further informed that many people commit suicide due to depression, substance use, infidelity in relationship, and other psychological and economic problems.
Kumar Acharya, chief of District Police Office, Bhojpur said, “Social workers and activists have a great role to play in this issue.” Family members must also be concerned about the mental health of their loved ones and should try to take proper care to minimize their problems, he added. Krishna Mizar, chief of the District Health Office thinks it is very much important to conduct awareness programs to minimize such cases. In the last fiscal year, 16 people committed suicide while in this fiscal year 13 such cases have been recorded as informed by the District Police Office.
