Parliamentary Probe Committee meeting postponed: Forensic report provided by police to be studied

KATHMANDU, July 26: The meeting of the Parliamentary Probe Committee, formed to investigate former Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma, at Singh Durbar this morning has been postponed. The meeting of the committee will be held again at 4 PM in the afternoon.

KATHMANDU, July 26: The meeting of the Parliamentary Probe Committee, formed to investigate former Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma, at Singh Durbar this morning has been postponed. The meeting of the committee will be held again at 4 PM in the afternoon.


In the meeting, the members of the committee are now looking at the forensic report given by the police. In the forensic report given by the police, there is also a video of the CCTV footage of the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

Earlier, the MoF said that the CCTV footage is retained for 13 days only and then it gets deleted automatically and that the footage of that day has been deleted. After that, the parliamentary committee asked the police for help to recover the footage.


Former finance minister Janardan Sharma has been accused of manipulating the tax rates by calling unauthorized persons to the ministry on the night of May 28, before presenting the budget for the financial year 2022/23 in the House of Representatives. Sharma resigned from the post of finance minister after the allegations.


With the Parliamentary Probe Committee starting to investigate Sharma, the ministry's CCTV footage has become everyone's interest.
