KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Pakistan´s government acknowledged Wednesday that there is a connection between November´s attacks in Mumbai, India, and elements inside Pakistan, CNN reported Wednesday.

In an interview with CNN, Pakistani National Security Adviser Mahmud Ali Durrani said evidence turned over to Pakistani authorities by the Indian government showed the attackers did have links to Pakistan. [break]

"I think it probably would be true now that for example [Ajmal Kasab] had Pakistani connections," said Durrani. "So one cannot deny there was zero link with Pakistan. How much, who all was involved, that we have to investigate."

Statements by Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, the sole surviving suspect in the November 26 massacre that left more than 160 people dead in India´s financial capital Mumbai, were among evidence that India submitted to Pakistan on Monday regarding the attacks. Also included in the dossier were phone records and information about captured weapons.

India says Islamic militants trained in Pakistan were behind the three-day siege on India´s financial capital, and that Kasab has told investigators he was trained by Laskar-e-Taiba, an Islamic militant group founded to battle Indian rule in the disputed Himalayan territory of Kashmir.

Durrani said the information had provided new leads and been useful to Pakistan´s own investigation, but was not enough.
