Paddle Nepal wins national rafting

KATHMANDU, Sept 27: Paddle Nepal A on Tuesday claimed the title of National Rafting Championship held in Chitwan.



Paddle Nepal clocked 13 minutes 45 seconds to finish the 5 km distance which began from Fisling and ended at Chung Khola.



The team captained by Nim Bahadur Magar comprised of Som Bahadur Magar, Jeevan Rana Magar, Sunil Gurung, Bharat Gurung and Lil Bahadur Gurung.



The winning team was rewarded with a purse of Rs 23,000.



Team B of Paddle Nepal stood second with the timing of 14 minutes 22 seconds and received cash prize of Rs 15,000.



Himalayan River Guide Association Nepal finished third and won Rs 10,000.



The event organized by Nepal Rafting and Canyoning Association saw participation of 15 teams from across the country.



The association has been organizing such events each year in Trishuli, Karnali and Bhote Koshi rivers with a view to develop rafting as sports in the country.
