A PAC meeting on Thursday formed the sub-commitee headed by Bhanubhakta Jaisi, with Kamala Panta, Alauddin Ansari, Pramod Gupta and Tek Bahadur Basnet as members, and asked the panel to report to it by mid-May.[break]
The PAC discussed the report submitted by sports authorities and quizzed State Minister for Youth and Sports Gopi Achhami, secretary at the ministry Sushil Ghimire and National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama at a meeting on Thursday.
"It could be too early to probe the allegations related to construction as works are still going on in Dhangadhi. However, we are open to help parliament committee probe any thing any time," said Lama at the meeting.
PAC President Ram Krishna Yadav said that the sub-committee was formed because parliamentarians were not satisfied with the report and answers of sports authorities.
"We were not satisfied with the report they submitted and we are not happy about the way budget was allocated during the Sixth National Games," said Yadav to Republica.
Earlier, local leaders of all political parties except UCPN (Maoist) in the Far Western Region had complained with the PAC and the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), accusing the National Sports Council leadership of massive irregularities.
Following the complaint, PAC had asked the NSC to furnish explanations on the charges and had ordered the sports authorities to submit the expenditure details by April 7.
