KATHMANDU, May 22: The deadline for the task force formed to investigate 48 complaints, screened by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament which was led by Sanjay Gautam, has been extended.
The PAC meeting held on Thursday decided to extend the task force's deadline by one month. On March 20, the PAC formed various subcommittees. Among them, a task force led by Manish Jha was formed to look into complaints related to telecom, telecommunications, and television. Similarly, another task force, led by Gokul Banskota, was formed to investigate complaints related to the Ministry of Finance, illegal insurance, mobile banking, and MCC.

Similarly, a task force led by Lekhnath Dahal has been formed to investigate complaints related to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A task force led by Prem Ale has been formed to look into complaints related to the Nepal Electricity Authority and the Ministry of Urban Development.
A task force led by Sanjay Gautam has been formed to investigate complaints related to cooperatives, foreign employment, and securities. Additionally, a task force led by Dev Prasad Timilsina has been formed to look into complaints related to sports, Nepal Scouts, and illegal government land.
Similarly, a task force led by Tara Lama has been formed to investigate complaints related to health, crushers, and the Central Investigation Bureau. Initially, a 15-day period was set for the investigation, but it has now surpassed two months. However, none of the task forces have submitted their reports yet.
For this reason, Chairman Rishikesh Pokhrel proposed dissolving the task forces and then resolving the issues through full committee discussions, as no task force had made any progress. However, the coordinators of the task forces were in favor of extending the time, leading to the decision to grant an extension.
