Overcoming failure like a boss!

KATHMANDU, Sept 29: To err is human. Nobody plans on making mistakes but imperfection is only normal. Failure is often cited as ‘the stepping stone to success’, tell this to someone in deep trouble and they are bound to fire back at you.

No matter how many cliché quotes there are about failure helping us to learn from our mistakes, the initial stage of failure is disheartening. To overcome that is a challenge in itself.[break]

“Failure for me is like a deep wound which heals but leaves scars behind. Although I overcome the situation, the fact that I have failed never stops haunting,” shared Vandana Singh on our Facebook page.

Failures test you. Testing yourself against adversities is healthy, it puts you off balance, prevents you from being ego centric.

Kuber Sodari shared “Failure in itself is an opportunity to strengthen our weaknesses and claim responsibility. It should be taken as an inspiration for future references.”

Similarly, Yogesh Kumar Prasai said “Failing is not a big deal but not learning from it is the important issue. Everyone fails because humans are prone to blunders. We must take failure as an important lesson which will aid us in our future glories. Thus, failure is not necessarily a loss rather an opportunity to review your mistakes and be more cautious in further attempts.”

Suvanga Parajuli talks about the aphorism ‘failure is the mother of success’ but concludes that it is not just a chance outcome or random possibility but the result of individual’s decisions.

Anyone who attended Vinod Mehta’s session on ‘Outlook Years’ during last week’s Nepal Literature Festival might remember how casually Mehta spoke about his mistakes and he even joked about them. That is the kind of spirit that will get you through adversities in life.

Failure is overrated. They should be overlooked and one should move on. If you can learn from mistakes, great! But if you can’t, there is no point crying over the spilt milk. What’s done is done and you can’t roll back time. So move on and take life as it comes!
