KATHMANDU, Oct 20: The number of people going for foreign employment continues to rise even during the festive season.


According to the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), as many as 53,525 Nepalis went abroad for employment with labor approvals in the Nepali month of Ashoj (mid-September to mid-October).

In the month of Ashoj, 17,724 Nepalis went to the United Arab Emirates, 10,468 to Saudi Arabia, 9,798 to Qatar, 3,807 to Kuwait, and 1,314 to Malaysia.


Similarly, there has been an increase in the number of Nepalis going to European countries such as Romania, Croatia, Cyprus, Malta, and Portugal in the month of Ashoj. In the previous month of Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September), 57,493 Nepalis traveled abroad for employment.
