KATHMANDU, April 10: A total of 1,565 foreigners took permits to work in Nepal during the first eight months of the current fiscal year.
The records with the Department of Labor and Occupational Safety (DoLOS) show that 1,116 individuals receiving the work permit are Chinese citizens. Of the rest, 62 are from England, 39 each from India, the US and Ireland, 31 from Japan and 20 from Sri Lanka.

In 2020/21, a total of 2,059 foreign citizens from 66 countries were granted permits to work in Nepal. Of the number, 1,484 were Chinese citizens.
According to DoLOS, Nepal provided legal work permits to more than 17,700 foreigners in the past one decade.
