KATHMANDU, Feb 6: The opposition parties, which have announced to overthrow the incumbent government through protests, have reiterated that an exit of the government was the sole alternative to ending the present political and constitutional deadlock in the country.

Speaking at a face-to-face program organized by the Reporters´ Club Nepal, the opposition leaders stressed the need of ousting the government first and thereby going for fresh people´s mandate by constituting free and fair election government. The political parties, however, are not in agreement on the issue as to who would lead such a government.

The Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist have been stating that there was no alternative to forming the election government under the leadership of a political person, whereas the Madhes-centric parties and some other small political parties have been advocating that such government be formed under the leadership of an independent candidate.

They have claimed a political report presented by UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in the party´ seventh general convention and differing views of Vice Chairman Narayankaji on the document has posed a great challenge to nationalism.

The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman´s proposal to hold referendum to determine the international border issues and to constitute separate mechanism of armies for economic development would plunge the nation into a grave crisis rather than taking the country to prosperity, they said.

CPN-Maoist Vice Chairman CP Gajurel said Dahal´s political report on the issue of nationality has reflected the circumstances of Sikkimisation. He said, "The proposal of giving an independent person with an opportunity of lead the government holds no meaning".

Similarly, Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal, Upendra Yadav said the ousting of the incumbent government and taking fresh people´s mandate were the solutions to the present political and constitutional crisis in the country. He said that he had no hope that the UCPN (Maoist) would come back to democracy with corrections.

Chairman of Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party Sharat Singh Bhandari ruled out the possibility of consensus among the political parties as long as they practice the politics of prohibition.

Accusing the government of orienting towards despotism, Bhandari said the Constituent Assembly (CA) was dissolved due to failure of the political parties.
