KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) - the sole secondary share market - is launching basic internet-based trading system, wherein the investors can place online purchase and sales orders to stock brokers from January 20, 2009. [break]

The system is being launched in a bid to make stock transactions more efficient, NEPSE has said in a statement.

Moreover, the stock exchange has announced that the initiation of new trading system will give the Central Depository System (CDS) - an advance trading system that will wipe out manipulation in stock trading - a complete shape.

The NEPSE has already replaced Open-Out-Cry-System with an automatic computerized transaction system on July 2, 2008, thereby enabling the stock brokers to conduct shares trading online. Under the system, the investors can also watch live transaction activities through Wide Area Network (WAN) system.

For now, online shares trading can be conducted through seven broker companies. According to NEPSE, those catering the online trading services are Market Security and Exchange, Khandewal Stock Brokering Co., Nepal Investment and Securities, Sweta Securities, Shrikrishna Securities, Trishul Securities and Investment, and Primo Securities.
