Most of the agencies chose to submit their nominations manually, according to Bharat Lal Nyachhon, executive director of AAN.“We have received nominations from 25 agencies so far and only five of them have filed nominations through online system,” he added.[break]
AAN has tied up with India-based Global Best Awards for online registration of nominations for the first time in the event history. As per the agreement that AAN has signed with Global Best Awards, the Indian firm will provide service to AAN for the next three years.
“We introduced the online system hoping to facilitate our member agencies. But surprisingly, agencies have found the traditional offline system easier,” said Nyachhon.
Raj Kumar Bhattarai, president of AAN, said agencies showed lukewarm response to the online nomination filing system as the association failed to make the entire system online. “We have asked agencies filing nominations in the print category to submit us hard copy documents. It might be because of this that agencies found manual system easier,” Bhattarai added.
AAN officials said they would organize orientation programs for member agencies in order to encourage them to use online system for submitting nominations.
AAN has received 300 nominations under 24 categories so far. Of them, 35 nominations were received through online system.
Meanwhile, AAN has extended deadline for submission of nominations till September 13. Earlier, it had set the deadline at August 16. AAN had opened registration for nominations on April 21.
Officials of AAN said they extended the deadline as they received fewer nominations compared to last year.
Last year, AAN had received 410 nominations from 40 different agencies under 24 categories.
Registration fee for nominations ranges from Rs 1,000 to Rs 4,500 depending on the category. However, agencies submitting nominations in all categories - radio, TV and print, get 10 percent discount.
AAN is yet to finalize date and venue for the awards to be held in November. Officials of AAN said they are working to organize the awards outside the Kathmandu Valley.
AAN organized the first Crity Awards in 2004 with an objective to enhance the Nepali advertising industry in terms of professionalism, creativity and industrialization of advertising sector. At present, AAN has 192 members.
