“We are searching the absconding person,” SP Jaya Raj Sapkota, at Metropolitan Traffic Police said. Likewise, three more were injured in separate accidents in Lalitpur.
As of 2:30 PM, at least 500 vehicles were taken under custody for a range of traffic rule offices – driving under the influence (44), not wearing safety helmets (25) and triple ride on two-wheelers (55). Likewise, 18 government-owned vehicles were also held in custody for plying on roads during public holiday.
In order to ease public movement, the traffic police restricted vehicles to enter the periphery of New Road and Thamel. “Once we remove the restriction, traffic congestion can be expected for a while,” Sapkota said. “Hence, we advise all to use alternative routes.”
