Kanchanpur Women Beyond Kitchen Chores
Kanchanpur, Aug. 12: Abandoning the assumption that women should be confined to farming and kitchen chores, women in Kanchanpur have turned to be bread winner of family by transporting goods from nearby Indian market Banbasa by bicycle.
More than 50 disadvantaged women of the area have been earning at the range of Rs. 500 to 1,000 each for the past four years by transporting daily needy goods from Indian markets.
They have been receiving this chunk of money as wage for their service to transport goods to the traders of Mahendranagar, Daiji and Suda.
They are charging the wage at the rate of Rs. 2 per kg for transporting goods of traders, said Kalabati Rana of Jhansi.
She informed that women who have made goods transportation as their profession are transporting 50 kg to one quintal a day.
Indian security personnel and employees of customs offices have been panicking them, complained Parbati Chand of Suda-5, Lalpur.
