BHAKTAPUR, Dec 6: One woman died and one man sustained injuries after a speeding car they were travelling in turned turtle at Kausaltar in Bhakatpur district on Saturday midnight.
The critically-injured woman was rescued and rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. The deceased has been identified as Riya Shrestha. She was living at Dhumbarahi in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-4.
According to Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, the incident took place when the ill-fated car (Ba 8 Cha 4756) crashed into a divider along the road after the driver lost his control.

In their preliminary investigation, police have found that three persons were travelling in the car when the incident took place.
A 26-year-old Bijaya Deuja from Madhyapur Thimi-5 has sustained minor injuries, while a 26-year-old Ranjit Karki from Lokanthali in Madhyapur Thimi-1 and a 27-year-old Sudap Thapa from Surya Vinayak-4 remained unscathed. Police have arrested car driver Ranjit Karki.
During the preliminary interrogation, Karki told the police that the incident took place when he lost the control.
Dipak Giri, information officer at the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, said that further investigation is underway.
