KATHMANDU, June 11: One person died and eight others sustained injuries in a bus and pickup truck collision in Kapilvastu on Tuesday. The accident took place near the Jhadulamai temple, Budhabhumi Municipality-4 along the East-West Highway.
According to the District Police Office, Kapilvastu, the accident occurred when a passenger bus (Karnali Pra 02-001 Kha 0525) en route to Surkhet from Kathmandu and a pickup truck (Lumbini 1 Cha 9284) from the opposite direction collided with each other at around 5:15 AM on Tuesday.
Tipper truck driver found dead
Mahesh Bikram Shahi, a police inspector at the District Police Office, Kapilvastu, said that the deceased is identified as pickup driver Hiralal Badhai, a resident of Shivaraj Municipality, Kapilvastu. Eight other people were injured in the accident.
According to Shahi, Badhai was trapped inside the truck after the collision and was rescued after two hours. Police said that the injured individuals were taken to Butwal for medical treatment.
