KATHMANDU, August 29: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has said that in order to bring the Nepali politics back on the right track, the party’s Chairman KP Sharma Oli had to be put forward as the prime ministerial candidate.
Speaking at an 'Interview with Journalists' program held in Kathmandu on Monday, General Secretary Pokharel stated that the party has put Oli forward as its candidate for Prime Minister to punish those who cornered leaders working in favor of the people, and said that his party is open to coordination with other parties in the elections to the provincial assemblies and House of Representatives slated for November 20. However, he said that his party is not in favor of any kind of electoral alliance.

Pokharel said, "When the leaders who have worked for the people are besieged, they should be punished by the people's court. The party made Oli the prime ministerial candidate to bring the derailed Nepali politics back on the right track.”
