Offers send visitor numbers rising at CAN

KATHMANDU, Feb 7: More than 74,000 visitors attended the 19th Midas CAN-InfoTech 2013 on Thursday -- the second day of the week-long information technology fair being held at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu. The number of visitors totaled about 124,000 during two days.



A statement issued by the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) – the organizer of the fair – said several participating companies introduced new products on Thursday at the event.[break]



“People are encouraged to visit the event as several firms have offered heavy discounts and bumper prizes,” says the statement.



e-Class by Midas Technologies, introduced with the slogan - ´Empowering Teaching Inspiring Learning´, was the major attraction drawing a lot of students. Midas, which is also the title sponsor of the event, also announced that it would launch training for teachers free of cost to introduce the e-class at school level.



On the occasion, Neoteric Nepal, the platinum sponsor of the event, provided a prize to one of the visitors to its stall and has offered heavy discounts on Dell and Nokia products.



Crowds formed at the voters´ list collection stalls set up by the Election Commission, the Ymax stall of Nepal Telecom, Anti-virus software and internet security stalls, solar inverter stalls, web page designing stalls, and IT-training related stalls, among others on the second day of the fair.



A large number of visitors thronged to the stalls that are providing huge discounts on laptops, mobile phones, software, printers, TVs, tablets, projectors, computers and CCTV equipment.



Impressed by the increasing number of visitors on the first two days of the event, CAN office bearers say they expected footfall of over 450,000 people during the event.
