Director General Paudel said that more than 7.12 million workers have been given labor permits for working abroad in Nepal since 2051 BS. Among them, 6.7 million men and 300,000 women were approved for working abroad.

He mentioned that in the current financial year alone, it is 461,000 more than the last financial year.

Similarly, Director General Paudel said that since the department conducted all types of labor approval through the online system, overcrowding in the office was reduced by 45 percent in one year.

Saudi Arabia tops the chart among ten foreign destinations of Nepali workers. He said that more than 180,000 workers went to Saudi Arabia alone.

While Qatar is in second place, UAE and Kuwait are the third and the fourth largest destinations, respectively. Malaysia, Bahrain, Romania, Oman, Japan and Croatia are among the top labor destinations for Nepali workers. “The number of workers going to Malaysia has started to increase in recent months,” he said.
