NT contributes Rs 20.37b to the state coffers

KATHMANDU, July 28: Nepal Telecom (NT) on Sunday said it paid Rs 20.37 billion taxes to the government in fiscal year 2012/2013.



The taxes were paid in the form of royalty fee, renewal of GSM license and frequency fee among others. The state-owned telecom operators´ tax payment might increase to Rs 21.35 billion in the current fiscal year, according to NT officials. [break]



Issuing a press statement, NT said it has prepared budget of 69.95 billion for 2013/2014. Of the amount, Rs 19.41 billion has been set aside for capital expenditure. Likewise, NT will invest Rs 15.95 billion in different sectors.



NT aims to distribute 2.9 million, including 2 million GSM lines, in 2013/14. Similarly, it plans to expand CDMA coverage to all 75 districts in the current fiscal year.

It also plans to launch integrated billing system by the end of this fiscal year.



According to the statement, NT will revamp its customer service system in this fiscal year. Its other programs included installation of the 500 WiMAX and Fiber to the Home service to the customers in urban centers.
