KATHMANDU, March 30: Nepal Students Union candidates have won the Free Students Union elections in all the 15 positions of Padma Kanya Campus in Kathmandu. The NSU panel was led by Lal Kumari Pokharel (Swastika). Pokharel bagged 1,480 votes in the election, according to Ram Prasad Adhikari, secretary of NSU central office. All Nepal National Free Students Union and All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary had forged an alliance against the NSuU, which has traditionally controlled the FSU in this girls´ college but at the final stage, the Maoist-affiliatedg ANNISU-R had declared its boycott.
ANNFSU wins FSU elections at 17 colleges
ANNFSU panel has won the elections held two weeks ago for FSU in Prithvi Narayan campus of Pokhara. The Maoist-affliated ANNISU-R, however, has not accepted the result. Rashmi Acharya of ANNFSU bagged 3,819 while ANNISU-R candidate Om Raj Ale received 1,925 votes. The counting of votes had stalled for two weeks following dispute between the student unions of UML and Maoist.
