KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Nepal Students´ Union (NSU), the student wing of Nepali Congress, and locals started protests at Jayabageshwori, nearby Pashupatinath temple Wednesday morning against the recent appointment of priests and their aides (Bhandaris) at the temple. They demanded that the government keep the revered Hindu temple above politics. The government has mobilized Armed Police Force personnel in the area, said our correspondent Kushal Regmi. The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) appointed two priests on December 28 and later nominated two aides to the temple. Prime Minister is ex-officio patron of the PADT.
