NSJF announce Sports Award

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: The NSJF Player of the Year has been renamed Sports Award. Nepal Sports Journalists Forum on Wednesday declared this amidst a press conference in the capital. The award program this year is scheduled to be held on September 14 in the capital at Nepal Academy Hall. [break]



The organizers have also added one more award in the Sports Award to make it eight.



Para Athlete award has been added in the renowned sports award being organized each year by NSJF. The other awards are best male and female player, best youth player, best coach, special award, lifetime achievement award and popular player of the year award.



Explaining the reason for changing the name of award, NSJF President Niranjan Rajbanshi said that ´Sports Award´ would be more appropriate than the previous name as it is was a comprehensive sports award which includes all sports events, personalities and institution while the previous name seems to be much specific.







NSJF spokesperson Prakash Timilsina said that award will be given to sportspersons and institutions adjudging their achievement and role in the sports arena.



The best male, female, youth and coach award will be given adjudging their achievement and performance throughout the year in 2066 BS. Five nominees will be nominated in these categories while there won´t be any nominations for lifetime achievement award, special award and para athlete award. The popular player will be finalized through SMS voting.



A principal organizing committee has been formed under the coordination of NSJF President Rajbanshi while General-secretary Hemanta Kaphle is the associate coordinator and former Vice-president Dhruba Tuladhar is the member secretary.



Similarly, eight sub-committees -- players selection committee under the coordination of Mahesh Acharya, economic committee under Nabin Khatiwada, sponsor and management under Ajay Phuyal, organizing committee under Devendra Subedi, publishing committee under Ajay Hamal, publicity committee under Prakash Timilsina, hospitality committee under Pramod Pokharel and audio visual committee under Pawan Acharya -- has also been formed.
