KATHMANDU, Sept 16: New Road Team (NRT) reclaimed top spot in the Martyrs Memorial B Division League football tournament after coming from a goal deficit to beat Nayabasti Youth Club 2-1 on Friday at the APF ground in Halchowk, Kathmandu.

At the completion of the seventh round, NRT moved two points clear of the overnight leader Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT). Unbeaten teams, NRT has 17 points with five wins and two draws and RCT has 15 points with four wins and three draws.

Veteran forward Raj Kumar Ghising leveled the score for the Tripureshwar based team two minutes before the break, scoring his first goal of the season. NRT made it 2-1 in the 63rd minute after Birendra Thapa achieved target with a header in the 63rd minute.

Following the outcome, Nayabasti stands third from the bottom, 12th position in the standings with six points.

In another match of the day, Khumaltar Youth Club came from behind twice to edge Samajik Youth Club 3-2 at the same venue. Sabir Kumar Chaudhary netted twice for the Samajik, including the winner.

It was Samajik, however, which took the lead twice, with both goals coming from Bhuwan Basnet. He put Samajik in the driving seat in the 27th minute but Sabir cancelled the lead in the 36th. Bhuwan again restored the lead four minutes into second half. But the lead could not last long as Biren Tharu made it 2-2 for Khumaltar from the spot. Khumaltar finally dashed Samajik's hope of earning at least a point as Sabir netted the third goal nine minutes from time, which turned to be decisive.

With the win, Khumaltar has 10 points and is level on points with three other teams at the sixth position. However, Khumaltar stands second by the virtue of goal differences.

Meanwhile, Samajik is second from bottom with three points with just one win.

The top two sides at the end of the league earn the promotion to A division and the bottom two teams will be relegated to C division.
