President Bidya Devi Bhandari today unveiled the newly installed statue of national luminary Mahaguru Phalgunanda. The statue of Phalgunanda has been installed at Chulachuli rural municipality-1 marking the second anniversary of Phalgunanda Laphayan Multi-Lingual School.

Two polling centers in upper Dolpa continue to remain out of contact. Contact with the Gherang polling center in Charkatangsong rural municipality and Kalang polling center of Dolpo Buddha rural municipality has not been established.

Explosion in Chinese port city kills 2, injures 30


An explosion in a port city south of Shanghai on Sunday killed two people and injured at least 30 others, knocked down buildings and left streets littered with damaged cars and debris, the government and news reports said.

Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) advanced to the semifinals of the ongoing Kakarbhitta Gold Cup Football Tournament on Saturday after defeating Rupandehi XI 7-6 on sudden death. 


People go to vote, excitement across the country

 

The election of House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies for the first phase is commenced with excitement today in 32 districts. Voters armed with their identity cards started streaming into polling stations from early in the morning as the country started voting at 7 am. They are seen queuing up with visible eagerness to elect their representatives.  Polling officers have been told to manage special arrangements for physically disabled people, senior citizens, pregnant women, nursing mothers and sick people.
