KATHMANDU, Dec 21: A lecturer at Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus in Kathmandu was beaten black and blue by an examinee after the latter was not allowed to cheat in the examination today.
Lecturer Prakash Pudasaini was beaten black and blue by the student after he was prevented from cheating in an internal examination of a paper of Bachelor in Social Work (BSW) program, according to Pudasaini's colleagues.
Why teachers are important
According to a lecturer, an examination for the practical paper worth 30 marks of the BSW Program was underway at the Campus. Pudasaini had tried to stop him as the student in question tried to cheat during the examination.
The student named Kuber Jethara had then started misbehaving with Pudasaini. The examination has been put off following the incident.
There was an attempt to hold talks between Pudasaini and Jethara to amicably settle their dispute. Both the student and the teacher had reached the staff room where discussion between them was underway.
Pudasaini was seriously injured when Jethara suddenly picked up a steel jug used for drinking water and hit Pudasaini on his head. While Jethara managed to run away, Paudaini was immediately rushed to the nearby Kathmandu Model Hospital.
Pudasaini's colleagues said he has received seven stitches on his head. He is said to be out of danger now.
