SSB Brigade Commander Ram Awatar of Birpur had admitted their side's mistake following the incident. However, the Indian side is showing reluctance to take action against the guilty even after the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Sunsari, Ravi Lal Pant, repeatedly demanded investigation of the incident and action against the guilty."Although we were informed that a court of enquiry has been initiated, we have not been informed about its conclusion," said Pant.
The Nepali side has already started collecting proof of the incident. "Two among the four injured are still bed-ridden in hospital, making it difficult for us to investigate," said SP Sanjaya Raj Sharma, chief of District Police Office (DPO), Sunsari.
Two of the victims -- Ashok Yadav and Saroj Yadav -- are still undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences after the SSB personnel entered the country and opened fire on November 25. The two others, Naresh Yadav and Manoj Yadav, also sustained injuries in the incident.
According to District Administration Office (DAO), Sunsari, the site of the incident lies some 100 meters north of no man's land on the Nepal side. Six SSB personnel were involved in the firing incident.
