BUTWAL, June 5: Nine people have been killed in a bus accident in Rupandehi this morning.
Nine people were killed when a bus fell off a bridge over the Rohini River on the Bhairahawa-Parasi road section. Among the deceased are one woman and eight men. According to police, 24 people were injured in the accident.
Construction of Rohini Irrigation Project sluggish
According to police, the condition of 16 of the injured is critical. The condition of others is normal. The bus (Lu 2 Kha 3841) coming from Janakpur to Bhairahawa fell from the bridge of Rohini River at Basantapur of Omsatiya Rural Municipality-4 at around 4:30 in the morning.
It is said that there were 33 passengers in the bus. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Navaratna Poudel at District Police Office, Rupandehi, five of the critically injured people died while undergoing treatment at Universal Medical College, Bhairahawa and four others at Bhairahawa Bhim Hospital.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Bhairahawa-based Medical College, Bhim Hospital and Siddhartha City Hospital. The deceased have not been identified yet. The injured were immediately rescued by Nepal Police and Armed Police Force and were rushed to Bhairahawa for treatment.
