BHAKTAPUR, June 17: National Information Commission (NIC) Chief Krishnahari Baskota has stressed the need of establishing the Commission's provincial-level units.

Speaking at a two-day orientation programme on the 'role of education journalists in the strengthening of public education' organised by National Campaign for Education in Bhaktapur today, Chief Information Commissioner Baskota demanded the government establish information commission in every province so as to find a strong ground for implementing the provision of right to information.

"The Constitution has guaranteed the rights to seek and impart information, but the document is itself not much clear about the right to disseminate the obtained information," he said, seeking to revise this constitutional provision.

The right to information (RTI) should be taken as oxygen of democracy, he asserted, making it clear that the Commission would immediately respond if it received any complaint from journalists or mass relating to the denial of information. RSS
