Newly appointed US ambassador visits Bauddhanath Stupa and Himalayan Museum

KATHMANDU, Nov 2: Newly-appointed Ambassador of the United States (US) to Nepal, Dean R Thompson, visited the 'Himalayan Museum' in Bauddha on Tuesday. At the same time, he also observed the Bauddhanath Stupa.

KATHMANDU, Nov 2: Newly-appointed Ambassador of the United States (US) to Nepal, Dean R Thompson, visited the 'Himalayan Museum' in Bauddha on Tuesday. At the same time, he also observed the Bauddhanath Stupa.


About 600 items reflecting Tibetan culture, Buddhism and culture are showcased at the Himalayan Museum. Preparations are being made to officially launch it soon. Ambassador Thompson said that the Himalayan culture is the culture of the ancestors and that the culture of the Himalayas, Tibet and Buddhism are very important.

Tenjin Shimizu, president of the museum, said that the culture of the Himalayas and Tibet should be preserved. He said that preparations are being made to bring it into official operation in the next 3 weeks. Shimizu said that it is a Buddhist religious site and a museum has been built in this area to reflect the culture of Tibet, Nepal and the Himalayas.
