KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday plunged 35.67 points to close at 1,921.24 points.
The secondary market opened at 1,956.92 points and went downhill throughout the trading hours. Overall, the market lost 1.82 point percent.
Nepse up for a fifth consecutive week
The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue-chip companies also declined 5.79 points. The daily turnover stood at Rs 1.801 billion, up from Rs 1.106 billion on Thursday.
All the 13 trading groups witnessed fall in their market indices. Life insurance index declined by the biggest of 238.57 points, followed by non-life insurance, and hotels and tourism by 191.73 points and 122.86 points, respectively.
Among individual companies, the market values of 213 companies declined, while 16 companies posted gains in their indices.
Shivam Cements having traded its shares worth Rs 67.381 million, led in terms of shares transaction value. Himalayan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 10 percent of its market price. Similarly, Barahi Hydropower Public Limited was the highest gainer by adding 9.59 percent of its market value.
