The Embassy / Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations celebrated the anniversary of the the day on which Nepali people brought monumental political transformation in the country.
Present in the program were the Nepalese nationals working in various International Organizations in Geneva; NRN officials in Switzerland; members of Nepali community living in Switzerland and officials and employees of the embassy and their families.
Meanwhile, according to RSS, the 4th Loktandra Day was also celebrated in South Korea.
A function was organised in front of the Nepalese Embassy in Seoul to mark the big day. Nepali people from various walks of life attended the programme.[break]
On the occasion, Nepal’s Ambassador to South Korea Kamal Prasad Koirala said growing uncertainty is looming for constitution-drafting within the May 28 deadline because political parties continued to stick to their guns.
He stressed that nobody should try to hurt the sentiments of Nepali people who fought for democracy by actively participating during Jana Andolan II.
Raghu Tripathi, President of Federation of Nepali Journalists, South Korea branch, said that Nepali people could not live with self-respect within these four years. The act of dilly-dallying by leaders is an insult to the democratic movement, he said.
Krishna Devkota, Chairman of Society of Nepalese Students in Korea (SONSIK), accused that efforts are being made to undermine Loktantara in Nepal in the name to establishing Loktantra.
Vice-Chairman of NRN Dhyan Rai bemoaned that violence of politics is increasing in Nepal. All Nepali people should unite and save the nation, he said.
KP Sitaula, who has received honourable citizenship of South Korea, said Nepali people are still in wait hoping to realise the real Loktantra.
Other speakers in the programme also said that Loktantra has not brought significant change in people’s lives.
