KATHMANDU, Feb 14: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) called 18 players under closed camp for ACC U-16 Elite Cup on Sunday. The players were selected after CAN received medical certificates of age verification from Asian Cricket Council. The tournament will be held in Kathmandu from March 8 to 18.

CAN had nominated 33 players, who had performed well during the Boost U-16 National Cricket Tournament, to ACC. However only 10 players were found under the age category. [break]

The qualified players are Hari Chaulagain, Rajiv Kumar Shah, Rishav Rajbhandari, Sharad Khadka, Nischal Pande, Suichan Shah, Bibek Chaudhary, Devendra Somare, Dipendra Chand and Jagadish Chand.

The ACC age verification excluded the best batsman of the Boost U-16 National Cricket Tournament Wasim Haluwai (Nepalgunj), man-of-the-series Rahul Pratap Singh (Birgunj) and other players.

However, best bowler of the tournament Hari Chaulagain was found under the age group. Among the top 10 run scorers and wicket takers, Hari was the only player found under the age category.

After receiving the ACC report, CAN sent nominations of 23 other players to ACC where they found 18 players were under the age group.
