Pradhan, who had been living in the USA since 2015, was preparing to return to Nepal after nearly 10 years. Pradhan, a mathematics teacher from Bharatpur, Nepal, reached the United States in 2015 with the aspiration of securing a brighter future for his family. Throughout his life in the US, he encountered numerous obstacles. A few years back in Texas, he was robbed at gunpoint, an event that deeply affected him. Later in 2019, he was afflicted with a neurological ailment that confined him to bed for more than half a year.

The body of the deceased will be sent to Nepal only after the cause of death is ascertained. Pradhan's family, including his wife, one son, and one daughter, is in Nepal.

To assist with the expenses of transporting the body back to Nepal, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched by Ramesh Acharya of Upper Marlboro with a goal of raising US$50,000. The campaign aims to cover the repatriation expenses which include embalming costs, processing fees, airfare, etc.
