Nepal win first warm-up

KATHMANDU, Aug 10:  Nepal clinched a 290-run victory against the Bologna Cricket Club on Tuesday in their first warm-up match on the eve of Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4.



Batting first, Nepal put up a mammoth total of 368 in 50 overs losing only six wickets as Vice-captain Gyanendra Malla completed his century. [break] Nepali batsmen utilized the weak bowling attack of Italian Club and hammered runs to boost their self-confidence before the important tournament.



Malla scored 128 runs while Captain Paras Khadka scored 86. Likewise, Opener Anil Mandal scored 60 runs and Mehboob Alam remained unbeaten for 42 runs.



Wicketkeeper batsman Mahesh Chhetri struck 29 runs.



Bologna Cricket club were all out for 78 runs in 28 overs as former Captain Binod Das took four wickets and Basant Regmi claimed three wickets.



Nepal is in Italy to play Division 4, which will kick off on Saturday, which will lead Nepal a step closer to realizing the dream of playing Cricket World Cup 2015.



Meanwhile, Nepali off-spinner Sanjam Regmi was injured during the practice match against the Bologna Cricket Club. A ball hit Regmi on his nose while fielding in the match.



“He has injury to his nose and doctors have asked him to rest for at least for 3 days,” said Nepali Manager Thakur Pratap Thapa.
