Nepal to face Pakistan in SAFF U-18 women’s championship

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: Nepal U-18 women’s team will play its first match of the SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship against Pakistan to be held in Bhutan from Friday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: Nepal U-18 women’s team will play its first match of the SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship against Pakistan to be held in Bhutan from Friday. 


According to the match schedule unveiled by South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) on Tuesday, it was noted that Nepal’s first opponent of the tournament will be Pakistan. 


A total of six South Asian teams are taking part in the tournament.

Earlier, the SAFF had unveiled the schedule including Sri Lanka, but as it withdrew its participation, the remaining six teams were divided into two groups.


India, Maldives and the host Bhutan are in Group A, while the Group B consists of Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. 


Nepal will play its first match against Pakistan on Friday, while Nepal will take on Bangladesh in the second group match on October 2. 


The top two teams of each group will enter the semifinal of the tournament, which will be played in league cum knockout format. 


The tournament will run till October 7.
