Nepal secures resounding victory over Papua New Guinea in triangular T-20I series

KATHMANDU, March 12: Nepal secured a commanding victory over Papua New Guinea in the triangular T-20I series. Despite losing the toss and being put to bat first, Nepal emerged victorious by a thick margin of 85 runs. Nepal has reached the final by remaining at the top with 3 points in 2 matches.

KATHMANDU, March 12: Nepal secured a commanding victory over Papua New Guinea in the triangular T-20I series. Despite losing the toss and being put to bat first, Nepal emerged victorious by a thick margin of 85 runs. Nepal has reached the final by remaining at the top with 3 points in 2 matches.


Opener Kushal Bhurtel led the charge with an impressive 59 runs, while Sandeep Jora contributed 56 runs to the total. Other notable contributions came from Binod Bhandari (27 runs), Bibek Yadav (19 runs), Gulshan Jha (15 runs), and Lokesh Bam (14 runs). However, Captain Rohit Poudel managed to score only one run, while Aarif Sheikh scored 4 runs before being dismissed.

Asaad Wala claimed 2 wickets for 18 runs in 3 overs for Papua New Guinea while Nosaina Pokana, John Kariko and Norman Bhanuwa secured 1 wicket each.


On the other hand, Papua New Guinea, which entered the field with a target of 199 runs, performed poorly and could only score 113 runs after losing all their wickets in just 16.1 overs.


Nepal's bowlers put up a stellar performance, with Kushal Bhurtel leading the way by taking 4 wickets for just 12 runs. Pratish GC also made significant contributions, claiming 2 wickets for 40 runs. Gulshan Jha and Akash Chand chipped in with one wicket each to restrict Papua New Guinea to 85 runs short of the target.
