Nepal's Prince climbs to seventh in BWF ranking

KATHMANDU, March 11: Prince Dahal has climbed to the seventh rank in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) junior ranking.

KATHMANDU, March 11: Prince Dahal has climbed to the seventh rank in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) junior ranking.


In the new ranking announced today by BWF, Prince has been placed in the seventh-place towards the male under-19 group. Before this, he was in the 10th rank. The ranking secured by Prince is the best result so far towards the world junior badminton by any Nepali player.

He has improved his ranking significantly after giving the best performance in the German International Series held recently in Germany. Prince has collected 10,400 points from 11 matches. The Nepali junior badminton champion had reached the pre-quarterfinal in the Dutch Junior International and German junior Series.


The 16-year-old Prince won in two matches and was defeated in one in the Dutch Junior International while registering victory in three matches and conceding defeat in one match under the German Series.


Hailing from Khalanga of Darchula district, Prince is currently studying in class 9 at Danfe English Boarding School at Jawalakhel, Lalitpur. He has been playing from the Sudurpaschim State.


France's Christo Popov is on the top of the world badminton junior ranking, Mirav Luwad of India is in the second place, Kok Jing Hong of Malaysia is in the third place, Barun Kapoor of India in the fourth place, Mads Juwel Moller of Denmark is in the fifth spot while Joakim Wolderuf of Finland is in the sixth place.
